Music for Water, Stone and Gravel

Preparation:

Each performer requires:

one large stone or rock,
one bucket of gravel,
one bucket of water

and one vessel large enough to hold the stone, gravel and water

The performers should arrange themselves so that their vessels and the audience are in front of them, and they should, as much as possible, surround the audience.

Performance:

1. Each performer pours/drops one of their 3 items into their vessel and passes one of their remaining items to the performer on the right.

2. Repeat 1 until all of the items have been used, thus ending the performance.

Each performer decides for his or herself when to use an item.

Variants:

Vary the number of items with which the performer begins the piece.

Vary the number of vessels so that the performers are required to share.
