On Shanty

This piece may be performed by one or more guitarists using acoustic and/or electric instruments with or without sound transformation/enhancement.

Collect a number of sea-worn stones and pebbles from the beach.

Use these to both prepare and activate a guitar which is played lying prone in front of the performer.

Allow the stones to sing for themselves with as little performer intent as possible.

At times, close your eyes, visualise the beach and create a silent space.
