A fundamental tone (single sine-wave) and as many of its partials as possible are generated.
The volumes of each individual partial, and the fundamental tone, are controlled by distinct repeating cycles. Each cycle has a different total duration. At least half of each cycle must result in silence. All of the cyrcles total durations must be less than 0.1 Hz. The shape of each cycle may be the same or different.
Each box's cycles must be unique.
All of the electronics for the music must be housed in a single box. The box cannot make any sounds of itself; it must be connected to a household stereo for the music to be heard.
When the box is switched off, it memorises the point of each cycle when it was switched off so that, when it is switched on again, it continues from where it left off.
Ideally the box should be no bigger than a portable CD player.
